The pharmacist has weighed 15g of coal tar and given it to a technician with instructions to compound as much 1% ointment as possible. What will be the final weight of the correctly compounded prescription be?

After the 1% oint is mixed, the 15g of coal tar will represent 1%. You can really just do this in your head because the total amount of oint would be 100 times that, or 1500 g. You can set it up like this: 15g/1% = x g/100%. Solving for x g you get 1500 g.
